Compensation and Benefits

General Information

Job Type Permanent full-time employee (retirement at age 60)
Work Location Toshiba In-house Companies and R&D Centers located throughout Japan
Working Hours Monday - Friday, 7 hrs 45min. a day (45 or 60min. lunch break)
Holidays National holidays in Japan and additional company holidays (more than 20 days a year)
Starting Salary
  • New graduates (Bachelor's degree) → JPY 205,500/mth Note
  • New Master's → JPY 228,500/mth Note
  • New Doctorate (PhD) → JPY 275,000/mth Note

Incentive Bonus Twice a year (June and December), depending on performance
Other Wages and Allowance Overtime pay, commuting allowance (fully covered), housing allowance, child allowance, etc.
Annual Wage Increment Annual (April), depending on performance
Paid Annual Leaves
  • 1st year → Approx. 10 days (prorated based on joining date)
  • 2nd year → 22 days, 3rd year onwards → 24 days
Medical and Dental Benefits Toshiba Healthcare Association pays 70% in principle of the medical and dental expenses.
Points Reward System (Flexible Benefits System) Toshiba offers a "Cafeteria Plan" type benefits program, called "TEATIME," that allows employees to select services from a menu of choices

Toshiba Science Museum recalls Toshiba's past achievements and help to envision the contributions science and technology will make to society in the future.
(2) Toshiba Sports Teams(in Japanese)
Toshiba sponsors baseball, rugby and basketball teams. They have produced world-class players who have represented Japan in the Olympics and the Rugby World Cup.

Toshiba Philharmonic Orchestra (TPO) is an amateur orchestra composed of Toshiba Group employees. The orchestra has performed all over Japan, and in the United States, Europe and Malaysia, and is recognized as one of Japan's leading amateur orchestras. TPO performances make wonderful contributions to cultural interaction with local communities.
